MFF2 footprint in-circuit solder FPC cable

The Osmocom SIMtrace2 hardware enables you to capture and monitor communication between a mobile phone and its SIM or USIM card.The SIMtrace2 Hardware Kit consists of the following parts:the SIMtrace Device itselfa USB A to mini-B cablea set of four flexible PCB SIM adapters for 2FF SIM card size, one in each orientationThe flexible PCB adapter cables for 3FF (micro) and 4FF (nano) SIM card slots are NOT included in the kit.  If you require it, please order them as separate items.Full schematics, gerber files, firmware source code and host PC software source code can be found at https://osmocom.org/projects/simtrace2 .Please note that sysmocom is merely offering the fully assembled/tested/manufactured SIMtrace hardware to you.  The software is a community-driven OpenSource project, and at the low cost of this item, we cannot provide you with free software support or any type of warranty on software functionality.Please note that we strongly advise against the use of virtual machines with USB pass-through for the SIMTrace2.  This often messes up the rather strict timing requirements and introduces instability.  Please understand that we cannot accept bug reports for bugs observed in setups involving VMs.

In the M2M/IoT industry, the ETSI MFF2 (Machine Form Factor) SIM, is gaining momentum.  As opposed to regular SIMs, this type of sim is not user-removable, but soldered into the GSM-enabled product.  The MFF2 form-factor is also frequently used for all types of eUICCs within the GSMA  eSIM universe.This MFF2 SIM / eUICC is sometimes also called VQFN8 SIM or SON-8 SIM.When debugging or analyzing problems with such MFF2 SIM/eUICC, they cannot be directly used with regular phones, test mobiles or SIM protocol tracers like our SIMtrace product.However, using this adapter and our FPC SIM adapters, it is possible to use a ETSI MFF2 solder-type SIM/eUICC with a card reader or mobile phone that has a plug-in sized (ID-000) SIM card slot.Please note that this adapter is only the PCB adapter with a MFF2 footprint ZIF socket and the FPC connector.  No FPC SIM cable is included, and no MFF2 SIM is included!You will have to obtain the FPC SIM cables separately.  If you already have a SIMtrace including the adapters, you can use them with this product.Any ETSI MFF2 compliant solder-type SIM/eUICC can be soldered onto this adapter and used in regular mobile phones.
